Measure your head size - hat size
- To measure your head circumference, measure around your head where the hat would rest, i.e. in the middle of the forehead and at theback of the skull (normally 0.5 to 1 cm above the eyebrows and ears).
- Hold the tape measure or band comfortably, as you would like your hat to fit (most measurement errors occur when applying the band too tightly).
- Read the nearest size and refer to the diagram below to find your hat size.
- Once you've taken your head size, choose the model of women's hat or men's hat, women's cap or men's cap and women's beret or men's beret.
If you don't have a flexible tape measure, you can use a piece of rope or ribbon (non-extensible).
If your measurement falls in the middle of two sizes, we strongly recommend that you choose the larger of the two values. This will make the hat more comfortable to wear.
You can adjust the size of the hat by placing a small piece of foam or cork strips (which we can supply) behind the fabric or leather headband.

Larger sizes - special sizes
We carry the largest size on the product sheet, so you can already find out about available large hats in the large size section. If your hat size is larger than the largest size suggested for a given hat, we can stretch the hat to a larger size. It is also possible to make custom hats. Please indicate the reference number and size you require.
There is no extra charge for stretching, but please allow an extra 2 or 3 days for delivery.

Quick tips to find your head size
There's no right overall fit for a hat. You need to make sure your hat fits the way YOU want it to.
It's entirely a matter of personal preference and whatever works for you.
A more fitted hat is still best for active people - think of a festival or a day at the beach, your hat will also be higher on your head.
A fuller hat is more comfortable to wear for longer periods (4 hours or more) and will sit lower on your head.
