Keeping and handling your hat

Hat handling tips :

The secret of a long-lasting hat lies in its handling.

  • Never handle it with dirty hands (especially greasy ones). This is a good way to damage it quickly, leaving stains.
  • Always hold your hat by the underside, front and back of the brim to maintain its shape.
  • The hat stand is the ideal support for maintaining the shape of your hat. It's also easy to care for and easy to hold.
  • If you don't have a hat stand, avoid placing your headgear on flat surfaces, especially if they have a curved edge.
  • Avoid hanging your hat on a coat rack, or you'll end up with a dent in your hat.
  • Likewise, we recommend that you roll up the edges of the hat when you put it on, to avoid distorting it. If we take the example of trilby hats with lowered front edges, it's best to keep them on the cap to avoid having a hat with a deformed front. Deformed fronts are often the result of poor preservation and are sometimes impossible to straighten.

These tips will help you keep your hat in good condition, so it stays as beautiful as it was in its early days.
